Was the Hurricane that crashed today part of the Battle of Britain Mem. Flight?
Someone told me that a Hurricane had crashed today during an air show to commemorate Battle of Britain Day and the pilot had been killed. What happened? Was it the BBMF Hurricane?

- I think it was a private aircraft, engaged in a mock defence of the airfield,it apparently went in nose first.unfortunately the pilot was killed.RIP.
- Its probable. Theres not many left. I will get back to this when I find out. No its not a BBMF Hurricane. It apparently was privately owned. Its hard to believe a current frontline fastjet RAF pilot (which is what all the Spit and Hurri pilots on the BBMF are) would make a basic error like hitting the ground. Another air tragedy today with Colin Mcrae in a helicopter crash. Not official but you just know he died. Whats going on? There have been a lot of accidents and deaths in the news recently.
- What a sad story.
- I only know of 2 flying Hurricanes in the UK, 1 of which is the BBMF one, the other is owned by the Real Aeroplane Company at Breighton airfield near Selby (which is my local airfield). Does anyone one know of any others in flight condition? EDIT It was the one from Breighton that crashed. The pilot was the owner of the airfield. God rest his soul.
- There are too many accidents at airshows.
