I need the right measures to make my own windsock to be used in my home airport with dimensions and exact directions of how to make it

In the US, If yours is a Privately owned, open to the public landing area listed in the current FAA Airport/Facility Directory,contact the aviation division of the DOT of your state, they will give you one free. If you dont qualify for a free one, make it five feet long, 18 " in diameter at the big end tapering to 3 inches at the other. You will need a anemometer to calibrate it. By the time you purchase the materials and wind meter, you could buy one retail already made and calibrated.
