what do windsocks teachs children?

i am thinking about doing this in a classroom but cant really make a connection outside of an art project. any ideas how it can relate to content in math and science??

  1. Not sure about math, but it is certainly science. Weather. Wind. Wind direction. After they make them, you can show them with a fan (CLOSELY supervised, of course) what happens to the windsock when there is no wind, a little wind, a lot of wind. Does the direction they are facing change what happens to the windsock? Take them outside and talk about how windy it is (or isn't). Show them they can create wind if they run with the windsock.
